The Rooted in Hope 2023-24 project hosted its final event on Sunday April 21st. About a dozen and a half participants, one third seniors and two thirds secondary school students, enjoyed the bright sunshine yet below seasonal temperatures for the final tree monitoring training at Gore Meadows Community Centre.

The Brampton Environmental Alliance (BEA) is pleased to officially announce, the “Rooted in Hope” project now being delivered by members of the BEA with financial support through the Ontario Seniors Community Grant Program.
The Brampton Environmental Alliance hosted its annual member meeting this past Wednesday March 19th at Greenbrier Recreation Centre. Thirty-one people, listened to the keynote address by Dr. Franz Hartmann, coordinator with the Alliance for a Livable Ontario, (ALO) followed by a formal meeting and workshop.
The environmental movement experienced considerable resistance in 2024 with differing opinions being vehemently expressed on both sides especially on areas of climate policy and active transportation. BEA members soldiered on against these challenges and progress was made in the four focus areas, Advocacy, Events, Education, Collaboration. Challenges continue at the start of 2025 but good may come from this chaos as the country faces both economic catastrophe and climate-based apocalypse.
Twelve months ago we optimistically embraced 2023 as the post COVID year, the end of mask mandates and the beginning for economic recovery and environmental optimism.
