The Municipal election will take place on Monday October 26th. Advance voting starts today, October 9th from 12-8 p.m., tomorrow and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday October 16th, from 12-8 p.m., and Saturday October 17th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Municipal elections provide an opportunity for selecting candidates who share our vision of Brampton being a sustainable community, with a vibrant economy, a strong and stable social framework and a focus on environmental preservation that will allow our community to thrive well into the future.
Municipal decisions affect our daily lives in important fundamental ways, helping structure how we move through the city, where and how we live, what job opportunities we have, how we support each other as a community, and how we spend our free time whether that be in sport, recreation, culture or art.
Our city leaders must have a vision for the direction Brampton should take as it grows over the next few years to over $1M people. They must have the conviction to stay true to that vision through the hundreds of individual decisions that are made each year at City Hall. They must be able to "hold the line" against those that seek short-term political or economic gain at the expense of the City's future while maintaining a balance of needs and priorities in a changing world. In short, it is a very tough job and we, as the electorate, must exercise our democratic right in choosing the best candidates that are up for the job.
There are several tools available to you to better understand the candidates capabilities and where they stand on issues that are important to you.
Vote compass is a survey tool . Answer a few questions and the compass will point you to those candidates most closely aligned with your views. I've tried it and found the tool quite useful in informing my vote for Mayor, Regional and City Councillors.
The Brampton Environmental Alliance has two tools available to help you make informed candidate choices. The first is our ClimateFast database which provides the environmental voting records of the incumbent Council which led our city from 2022-2026. The second is our candidate survey where we put 5 environmentally focused questions to all of the candidates. The results are enlightening, whether the candidate chose to respond to our survey or not. For those candidates who have yet to respond, feel free to contact them and ask them why they haven't. You deserve to know their answers and we will keep updating the database right up to election day. So check back often.
But most importantly, please make your voice heard, GET OUT AND VOTE!
